Has anyone else dealt with constant calls and threats from a collection agency?

Quote from hehat on October 10, 2025, 4:18 pmLately, I’ve been getting nonstop calls from a collection agency about an old debt that I honestly thought was already settled. They’re calling me at work, leaving aggressive voicemails, and even contacting my relatives. It’s getting to the point where I feel completely harassed and anxious every time my phone rings.
I’ve read that there are laws to protect consumers from collection agency harassment, but I’m not sure what steps I can actually take or who to report it to. Has anyone here gone through something similar? How did you make it stop or get them to back off?
I came across this article that talks about ways to fight collection agency harassment and understand your rights: https://protectionforconsumers.com/fight-collection-agency-harassment/
Would love to hear what others have experienced and any advice on how to handle this the right way.
