CASCADE SPRINGS REFORESTATION
THE 2022 REFORESTION Project
Since 2018, we have been working with the municipality to restore areas in The Preserve that have been damaged by years of invasive species overgrowth.
As part of a Green Communities initiative, CSNC is joining forces with Trees Atlanta to identify strategic restoration and reforestation sites.Â
Reforestation (occasionally, reafforestation) is the natural or intentional restocking of existing forests and woodlands (forestation) that have been depleted, usually through deforestation,[1] but also after clearcutting. At The Preserve, non-native plants degrade and threaten the integrity and native composition of the deciduous forest ecosystem. Invasive plants like kudzu, and English Ivy increase seeding mortality, inhibit regeneration, and reduce growth of trees. Displayed here are photos of a current project to reforest a site previously impacted by the effects kudzu and english ivy overgrowth.
